Event Description

Enter the world of your own imagination as you view the extraordinary April exhibit showing at The Theater Gallery in Yuba City. Featured are intricate and enchanting “heart-full” paintings by YANNA  BAT ADAM and light-hearted yet thought-provoking sculptures by MICHAEL  E. ANGELL. Truly an eye-pleasing visual delight!

Originally trained as a classical flautist in Israel, YANNA  BAT ADAM has been involved in mixed media art for the last thirty years, often combining her musical talent with her beguiling artwork. An author as well, she has published a book entitled Consciously Loving My Neighbor As I Love Myself, available on Amazon. She paints colorful, intriguing, mixed media images that are three-dimensional and layered. She also uses phosphorescent paint in some pieces which glow in the dark, leaving a lingering image of the main message. Yanna calls herself a “Heartist,” a person who follows her Heart. But there is more to it than that. It is a way of creating art that inspires people to reach a higher nourishing emotional state--Heart appeal, perhaps. This is difficult to do, so she has founded a School for Conscious art at www.TheSchooloftheHeartist.com. Yanna endeavors to support artists from all disciplines to find their authentic emotional creative source, inspiring humanity to experience the highest potential, which is still dormant.

Multi-talented MICHAEL E. ANGELL will amaze you with his intricate sculptures of a magical fairytale world. His unique, imaginative work involves a lot of symbolism and mythology. He begins by sculpting a character--never seen before--and then writes a story about it, in a sense, authenticating its existence. The result is to arouse a sense of wonder and curiosity in the viewer. Writing is another of Michael’s talents. He has published two books online, a poetry collection, and a novel on LuLu. His website is www.michaelangell.com. Accompanying his smaller fairyland creatures will be his classical bronzes, “Zeus” and “Child Neptune.” Trained in Fine Arts, with a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University and an M.F.A. from Tulane University, Michael asserts that “art is a symbol of timelessness.” It brings a sense of culture with it, and endures and pleases the viewer without regard to time or place. His playful and inspiring figures appeal to the child in all of us and remind us that magic is still alive and well in the world.

The Theater Gallery is open every week, Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5:30 p.m. Come in and enter the drawing to win a jewelry piece each month.
