Birding Basics Field Trip
11/9/2013 - 11/9/2013
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Event Description
Saturday, 11/9

Time: 9:00am-noon

Meet: Swan Central Festival Venue

Difficulty: 2

Limit: 15

Cost: $15/adult $8/youth

Description: If you’ve recently been bitten by the birding bug and want to learn more about birding basics, this is the trip for you! We’ll explore some local habitats, where you’ll get great looks at various species through your binoculars and a spotting scope. We’ll discuss what to look for to identify a bird, such as shape, size, color, beak, feet, habitat, behavior, flight patterns, calls and more. We’ll use different field guides and discuss which ones are better for identifying the birds of our region. Learn about the different binocular and spotting scope options that are available to birders too. We’ll have a few binoculars to share if you don’t have any yet.
