Description: Colusa and Sacramento National Wildlife Refuges are two of the best birding hot spots in the Sacramento Valley! On this all-day trip, we’ll get to explore both locations, see incredible spectacles of massive flocks of wintering waterfowl, and learn about how the US Fish and Wildlife Service intensely manages these refuges to provide the habitat for wintering waterfowl and a myriad of other bird and wildlife species. This will also be a wonderful trip for seeing a variety of raptors, shorebirds, and waders. We may chalk up nearly 100 different species of birds on this trip! Rarities often show up at these refuges, including Eurasion Wigeon, blue morph Ross’s Geese, and even a Falcated Duck the past two winters at Colusa! The trip will include a mid-day stop at the famous Granzella’s Restaurant in Williams for a no-host lunch break. The trip fee does include entrance fees into the wildlife refuges. Bring plenty of snacks and water for the day.
