Description: Discover the rich history of Marysville on this level, handicapped accessible, 1-1.5 mile stroll along city sidewalks. Marysville was the “Gateway to the Goldfields” during the Gold Rush era and once one of the largest cities in California. This walk will include an overview of the city’s colorful history from the 1840s to today. On the walk, we’ll learn about the various architectural styles of the historic churches and homes, including great examples of Victorian and Gothic architecture. One of the highlights will be a brief history of the fires and floods that occurred during the early history of Marysville. Some of the levees established to combat these early floods still play an important role in today’s flood protection and agriculture. A portion of the proceeds from this walk will go to support the Mary Aaron Museum’s efforts to preserve and share the rich history of Marysville, CA.

Leader: Lily Noonan and/or representatives from the Mary Aaron Museum
