Description: Join the caravan and cruise the backroads of Yuba and Sutter Counties in search of Sandhill Cranes! Winter in the Sacramento Valley may seem cold, damp, and foggy to you, but thousands of Sandhill Cranes feel right at home in the Valley's grasslands, marshes, and agricultural fields. This magnificent bird stands nearly 5 feet tall, with a wingspan of nearly 6 feet! The harvested rice fields and grasslands surrounding the Sutter Buttes provide excellent foraging habitat for these living dinosaurs. The sight and sound of a flock of cranes descending into a field makes for a lifetime memory. You will also likely see many species of ducks, egrets, herons, White-faced Ibis, geese, Tundra Swans, and other waterfowl and shorebirds on this trip.
