Description: Join author, biologist, and ornithologist Ted Beedy for a trip up Highway 20 from Marysville, through the foothills, and into the Sierra Nevada range. Ted coauthored the recently published “Birds of the Sierra Nevada: Their Natural History, Status, and Distribution.” Ted will lead this field trip during the day and then Saturday evening, he and coauthor Ed Pandolfino will do a presentation about their newly released book. Make it a birding day with Ted! There will be numerous stops along the route to walk and search for birds in various habitats as you gain elevation into the Sierra. Just a few birds you may see on this trip include, Mountain Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, American Dipper, Common Raven, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Brown Creeper, Pileated Woodpecker, Pine Siskin, Purple Finch, Cassin’s Finch, and Evening Grosbeak. Bring a lunch, snacks, water, warm clothes, and good hiking shoes! Be prepared to carpool.
